Close Enough to be Convenient, Removed Enough to be Discreet
Newport is arguably the most traveler-friendly location on the Oregon Coast, and the city center is less than two miles from the Cove. Newport offers over thirty restaurants, two lighthouses, six miles of sandy beaches, and a public golf course across the street from Little Creek Cove.
The Oregon Coast Aquarium
The coast has never been closer: journey from seafloor to seashore along a 200 foot acrylic tunnel snaking its way through three ocean habitats.
The Bayfront
Paradoxically both bustling and laidback, Newport’s Bayfront is a place of almost frenetic industrial activity mixed with breweries, restaurants, and shops.. Home of the commercial fishing fleet, the US Coast Guard, the Hatfield Marine Science Center.
Yaquina Head Lighthouse
Standing 93 feet tall at the westernmost point of a basalt headland, the Yaquina Head lighthouse has been a bright beacon of the night since 1873. Just six minutes from the Cove. Tours are conducted daily.
Nye Beach
Less than two miles down the road from the Cove (or about a mile down the beach), the historic Nye Beach area offers dining, shopping, bike riding, kite flying, and a bustling arts scene.
Pacific Maritime Heritage Center
Despite the abundance of restaurants, the expanse of beaches, and attractions like the aquarium, at its heart, Newport is a commercial fishing center and has been for over 150 years.
Restaurants
Newport offers 76 (at last count) restaurants, which has to be one of the highest concentrations of restaurants vs population on the West Coast. Everything from fast food to fine dining is represented, with plenty of gems waiting to be discovered by the enterprising epicure. No one goes hungry in Newport.
